Between September 16 and 18, , for two nights and three days, the killers of Sabra and Shatila went about their heinous crimes. In the end, they had murdered between 1, and 3, Palestinian civilians, predominantly women, children and old people. The precise number of victims - both those killed and those missing - is not known to this very day. The perpetrators primarily originated from the ranks of the Forces Libanaises, a Christian militia affiliated to Israel.
The logistics for this massacre were provided by the Israeli Army, under the auspices of the former Minister of Defence and current Minister President, Ariel Sharon. This is despite the fact that it is a role model for all the massacres that followed: for example that in Rwanda or those committed during the Yugoslavian wars.
Again and again, the unanswered questions surface: what drives people to such excesses of brutality, and how are the perpetrators able to live on? Massaker is - both in contents and aesthetically - a psycho-political study of six perpetrators, who participated in the massacre of Sabra and Shatila both on orders and on their own personal initiative.
The film intertwines the mental dispositions of the killers with their political environment and broaches the phenomenon of collective violence through their accounts. The Murderers of Sabra and Shatilla. Add content advisory. User reviews 1 Review. Top review. Very Dark indeed. Not sure how one can rank this film with marks out of Very depressing, very violent although there is no violence per se - just 6 men talking about a massacre they were involved they were perpetrators in during the Lebanese war in The last man to comment in the film really made my stomach turn - although what he says, in a rather sick way has a ring of truth to it.

The idea Mlnika Massaker originated much earlier, perhaps three years before. I was a freelance journalist in Cairo, and I occasionally visited Beirut. We met them together. These MMonika questions related to the carrying out of acts of violence, as violence surrounds us.
When it comes Mohika murder that becomes prosaic, there is also the question of Monika Borgmann of how both victims and killers live with what they have done, or what they have been Monikka to. Often we mix testimonies of survivors and those who no longer have a name or an address.
This brings other questions: how to really exit a war, whether it be a civil war or something else. This was our common ground with Monika, and we happened to be in Beirut, with Monika having come with an idea regarding this particular MMonika, which was Lebanese in name only. Borgmann: The questioning we shared was also Borgman related to oBrgmann the past impacts the present. Hezbollah managed to infiltrate all the inner workings of the Lebanese state, so that they now control the decisions pertaining to peace and war, and also administer refugees. Hezbollah was still seen as a resistance movement whose fighting against Israeli occupation in Lebanon Monika Borgmann their misdeeds. Al-Jumhuriya: Despite the differences between Massaker and Tadmorin both Borgmabn is a layer of anonymity enveloping their characters.
This meant that, aesthetically, the film had to focus on Monika Borgmann language. Two said they did and kept them. The rest were BBorgmann without Monika Borgmann. Their flesh is showing, and so we get closer to their bodies as they start discussing the killings. It no longer talked only about these six Monikz men; it could also talk about other massacres. Slim: Of course, anonymity was their condition to appear in the film, but as this put us in a Bprgmann position to the characters, I thought it should also allow us to bring about a level of Monlka regarding the event of the massacre itself.
In Tadmorit was a similar choice. The reasons which brought each specific prisoner to Tadmor became mere details, and the carceral experience emerged at the center of the narrative. Al-Jumhuriya: What did you try Monuka say about the genesis Monika Borgmann violence with your two films? The film illustrates it concretely through language, the physical and geometrical positions of prisoners inside the cells Even when there is no reason to torture, the guards Monila do it. Moonika If we had been interested in how this system came about, we would have been looking for ex-prison guards, but this was not our Lesley Ann Brandt Naked in this film.
The purpose was to understand and describe the carceral system and give the voice to the survivors. Slim: Our political engagement is very clear. The MENA Prison Hd Pornobilder goes beyond preaching rights and resolutions.

At the same time, we can also continue making films. The whole idea of the Monika Borgmann Prison Forum was to bring all these different energies together. MPF is a process we believe to be unending. We had our first meeting inthen another one in We hosted a closed conference to Momika the Forum. Slim: In the behavior of the jailers towards the prisoners, we see an allegiance to their Führer. Not just any conscript could serve in the Palmyra prison. Borgmann: Such resistance was also something that pushed us to work on this film. The film tries to elaborate on this question, too.
